Meet the Team

Timo – The Quick

Introducing Tim, the founding partner of Seriously Fun. Timo is responsible for car preparation, driving, he is a one-man pit crew and instigates off the Pit wall antics. He does a lot of everything including helping other teams when he senses a need. A familiar figure in race circles having spent his life immersed with interesting cars. He puts a smile on people’s faces, has a very quick mind, a sharp sense of humour and keen eye. He gets satisfaction from helping others and loves racing cars! He is highly creative, innovative with a knack for upcycling. He is a SIERDC committee member.

Le Ton – The Crazyredman

Introducing Leyton, the founding partner of Seriously Fun. Le Ton is responsible for lunch, lodgings and returning the car(s) in the same condition as they left the pits, in a reasonable time frame. When not ensuring the Lolly Trolley is fully stocked he can be found making friends, connecting people, and turning crazy ideas into reality. Heavily involved in the back end with subscriptions, sponsorship, and sales. Being both a dreamer and a competitive athlete this has dictated that the lesser known road is often travelled. He lives for the challenge and likes to explore the boundaries.

Martin – The Polish

Introducing Martin, one of our wonderful bettermerchants. Martin heads up our quality control department and centre of excellence. He ensures our imagery is polished, captivating, and worthy. A professional Graphic and Motion Designer by day. A passionate car nut and driving enthusiast 24/7 by night. He makes us look better. That is important when you are as fast as us. Martin works closely with our marketing and promotions department. Martin’s passion for cars developed early in life, his father an active car club member. Having done several track days, we hope to get Martin to the Country Gents enjoyable and spectacular Hawkswood Sealed Sprint to take his next step.

Richy – The Lens

Introducing Richy, part camera, part automotive encyclopaedia. Richy is our head photographer with a long-distinguished resume of incredible work across all sectors of car culture, scribe and visual. His knowledge, versatility, passion, and skill a rare combination. An avid car enthusiast who is far closer to fanatical than enthusiast when it comes to his own restorations, with a level of commitment that belies belief. His exacting standards make his work a cause for celebration. His attention to detail and depths of his passion were emphasized on his SFun induction. Richy wearing a casual tee shirt filled with thumbnails of car liveries was taken aback when Timo recognised the significance. Mutual respect was instant when Richy challenged him to identify them all. Timo got an A minus.

Peter – The Biker

Introducing Peter, one of our awesome photographers and Pit Bike fleet manager. Peter has spent his lifetime immersed in cycles, racing BMX, Road, Multisport, Cyclocross and Mountain Biking. His experience in cycle manufacturing, retail, mechanical and racing make him an expert in his field. The owner and founder of Doctor Bike, a performance E Bike specialist and bespoke builder of high-end custom Mountain Bikes. Doctor bike has the tools, skills, knowledge, and experience for any bike fixation. With full lathe, shock servicing and custom spoke tooling he can service and fabricate on site to provide you the best solutions. He (will hopefully) build and maintain our two wheeled Doctor Bike Peugeot race support transport. One of Peter’s party tricks is a full superman (seat on abdomen only) at immense speed downhill. It is quite the trick!

Rick – Boy Friday, Southern

Introducing Rick, our central and southern boy Friday / general dogsbody / event media manager. Rick is invaluable on those races away from home. He does a little bit of everything including providing comic relief, moral support and when required contains and directs the media in an orderly fashion. He is best known for his social media appearances where his pop-up commodity sales are gold. Rick’s enthusiasm and support is much appreciated. Our resident Brevet (bruh vay) expert, Rick shows real empathy while wishing for longer car races. A Brevet is a timed long-distance gravel or road cycling event. While not a race, riders seek to improve their personal best times.

Moore’s – The Helpers

Introducing Moore Racing. The Altezza driven by Grant and Matt Moore is our closest competitor. Demonstrating the comradery within the South Island Endurance Series the Moore’s amazing pit crew led by Jared are often on hand to provide the required Fire Marshall, assist with belts during the pit stops and generally support and encourage their closest competitors. They even feed us hot food from the camper. How good are these guys and girls? Thank you, Jared, Grant, Matt, and team.

Serious Fun Down South

Seriously Fun will take the Serious to the track for the first time at 1.15pm tomorrow at Teretonga Park for round one of the four round Carter’s Tyre Service South Island Endurance Racing Drivers Championship Series 3-hour race in what promises to be the best motorsport endurance race field in New Zealand.

Spectators and fans will be treated with up to ten GT3 cars and seven TCR cars on the grid in the premier 3-hour race. Pro-Am pairings are expected to make up the front of the grid with experienced karters Matt Hamilton and Marco Schelp tipped to surprise with their new BMW Z4 GT3 V8 being let off the chain for the first time on New Zealand soil. The 110bhp, 1294cc, 1994 Peugeot 106 Rallye of Timo St Anton and Let Ton Tremain will assume their position as the slowest on track and will act as tail end Charlie for almost three laps before waving the race leaders past.

The successful pairing of Non-Elite drivers St Anton and Tremain mark their 4th consecutive season, finishing 18th last year and 16th overall in 2017. Undertaking two rounds in 2016 they claimed 2nd in Class (0-2000cc) at only their 2nd endurance race, held at Levels International Raceway where Craig Baird praised the drivers in busy conditions.

The pair boast a simple tortoise and hare strategy where they finish every race they start. An ultra-competitive and increasingly reliable field will require an even stronger series for them to finish inside the top 20 overall to qualify for the New Zealand Endurance Championships being held for the first time on the full international circuit at series competitor, Tony Quinn’s (Aston Martin Vantage GT3 / Damon Leitch, Pro Driver), Hampton Downs race track on Saturday the 16th of November.

Maximising the Fun off the track will be the key to New Zealand’s first crowd funded amateur race team who will be rolling out a series of innovations across the season. With increasing cost, the peoples race team, who promote participation in motorsport, are excited about launching their new brand. “We looked at selling pies but there just wasn’t enough fat” said Tremain.

The 1-hour race runs for sixty minutes from 11.15am to 12.15pm. For the best action head down to Teretonga Park, Sandy Point Road, Invercargill on Saturday.
